Check inbox and spam for the TestFlight invite from the Spot team.
Free from Apple — search "TestFlight" in the App Store.
Spot uses SMS to verify you. No passwords needed.
setup
Open the App Store, search "TestFlight" and download it. Free, made by Apple. Only need to do this once.
Find the email from the Spot team (check spam too). Tap "View in TestFlight" to open the Spot beta directly.
Tap install in TestFlight, then "Open" to launch. Takes a few seconds.
Enter your phone number, verify with the SMS code, then add your name, birthday, bio, and a photo. If you're single and open to meeting other users, feel free to use Spot as intended — just update your identity in settings anytime.
Select "App Tester" as your identity if you're just testing — you won't appear to real users.Tap "Allow While Using App". Your exact location is never shown to anyone — only an approximate distance like "~30 ft".
Open the Nearby tab, see who has Spot open around you, and send a wave. If they wave back — you connect.
When you select "App Tester" during onboarding, your profile won't appear in real users' nearby feeds. You can still use the full app. That said, if you're single and want to use Spot properly, go for it — just update your identity in settings anytime.

Spot has a built-in emergency feature — shake your phone or tap "I don't feel safe" to text 911 with your exact location pre-filled. Use it anytime, even when you're not meeting anyone. Your precise location is only shared with emergency services or your trusted contact — never with other users. Note: text-to-911 availability varies by location. If unavailable in your area, the call option is always available.
