1. Introduction

Spot ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Spot application. By using Spot, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

3. Information We Do NOT Collect

Spot does not collect or store the following:

4. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

5. Location Data

Your privacy is the foundation of Spot's location model. Your device's GPS is used to calculate proximity to other users, but we store only fuzzed approximate coordinates — never your exact location. Other users see only a general distance (e.g., "~30 ft").

Precise location data is used exclusively for emergency safety features you actively trigger, and is transmitted directly to emergency services or your designated trusted contact. It is never stored on our servers or shared with other users for any purpose.

6. Trusted Contact and Emergency Features

If you choose to use Spot's emergency features, your trusted contact information (name and phone number) is stored locally on your device only — it is never uploaded to our servers. When you trigger an emergency alert, your precise GPS location is transmitted via your device's native SMS function directly to your trusted contact or emergency services. Spot does not retain, log, or have access to this transmission.

7. Visibility Timer and Location Data

When you use the optional visibility timer, your approximate location continues to be shared with nearby users for the duration you select. We do not store precise location data at any point during this process. You are solely responsible for managing your visibility timer settings. Spot provides automatic notifications as a courtesy, but cannot guarantee their delivery. Your visibility status and timer settings are not logged or retained by Spot beyond what is necessary to operate the feature in real time.

14. Workplace Privacy

Spot does not collect, store, or process information about your employer, workplace, professional title, or organizational affiliations. We have no mechanism to identify whether two users share a workplace. Users are solely responsible for their own discretion regarding use of the App in professional settings.

14. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We may share data with:

14. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile, photos, and personal information are permanently deleted within 30 days. Some anonymized usage data may be retained for analytics purposes.

14. Your Rights

You have the right to:

14. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. Access to user data is strictly limited. However, no system is completely secure — please report any suspected security issues to support@spotdating.app.

14. Children's Privacy

Spot is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If we become aware that a minor has created an account, we will immediately terminate it and delete all associated data.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the App or by email. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Our promise to you.

Your exact location is never shared with other users. Your trusted contact info never leaves your device. Your workplace is none of our business. Your privacy is not a feature — it's the foundation everything else is built on.

Questions about your privacy?

We take these seriously and will respond promptly.
